Stiff competition looms in TNM super league
Silver Strikers FC have issued a stern challenge to their TNM Super League title rivals, asserting that they remain the team to beat.
Central bankers’ head coach, Peter Mponda, specifically directed the challenge toward second-placed Blantyre side Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
Mponda stated that Wanderers pose no threat to their pursuit of the top-tier silverware, regardless of their current form.
The bankers are leading the league standings with 48 points after comfortably beating Kamuzu Barracks 1-0 over the weekend, opening up a 7-point gap with the Nomads.
When asked if he has any pressure in the league, Mponda replied, “No team is giving us pressure; maybe if it were Bullets, then we would feel intense pressure.”
He further challenged all Super League teams, asserting that his side will put up a valiant fight to win the 2024 TNM Super League title.
However, Wanderers supporters are confident that their team will win the league.
“The league is far from over. We have faith that the team will win the league by the end of the season,” one of the supporters posted.
Meanwhile, soccer pundit Mwakhele Kaliande predicts thrilling matches ahead following a weekend of highly entertaining fixtures.
“Second-placed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have shown their intent, and if they can maintain their impressive form, they may challenge for the title,” Kaliande explained. She also pointed out that the defending champions, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, face an uphill battle to retain their championship, currently sitting in 9th place with 28 points.
