Phiri sounds alarm to rescue ‘sinking’ Flames
Former Malawi national team coach Kinnah Phiri has called on the Football Association of Malawi to convene a meeting with the current Flames technical panel and Flames Legends to address the underlying issues behind the team’s poor performance.
Following their latest consecutive losses to Burundi and Burkina Faso in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, the Flames are currently at the bottom of Group L.
Phiri who guided the national team to the AFCON finals in 2010, believes the Flames can revive their chances of qualifying for the AFCON finals next year should the technical panel seek advice from experienced individuals.
“We are all concerned. It is better for them to sit down with various stakeholders including the legends to iron out the challenges,” said Phiri
Meanwhile, Nkhata Bay Central parliamentarian Symon Vuwa Kaunda is seeking answers on what is causing the national team’s poor performance.
“What is it that has changed? What is the problem? We need answers as a country,” questioned Vuwa Kaunda.
