Preparations are in full swing for the ‘Blantyre City Celebrate Life Festival’, scheduled to take place between Thursday and Sunday this week at Nyambadwe School ground in Ndirande Township, Blantyre.

Organized by 1 God, Decade and Africa (1GDA), the event aims to spark a spiritual revival across Africa over the next decade, beginning in from Malawi’s commercial capital city.

Speaking at a press briefing in Blantyre on Tuesday morning, chairperson of the organizing committee Bishop Peter Thole said preparations are progressing smoothly for the four-day extravaganza.

He shared his prospects for the event saying: “We are looking forward to a very successful weekend because we have outlined a number of activities which will not only benefit the people spiritually but also materialistically.

“There will be a ruffle draw where attendants will stand a chance of winning flat screen, smart phones, bicycles, motor cycles and refrigerators courtesy of 1GDA.”

Renowned preachers Reverend Dana Morey from America and Evangelist Siegfried Tomaszewski from Germany, will deliver keynote sermons at the crusade.

Tomaszewski cited Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation,” as the motivation behind their mission.

Tomaszewski also encouraged citizens to engage in politics through prayer, seeking a peaceful electoral process as Malawi approaches next year’s general elections.

“The church is made up of the people thus the need for them to also play a leading role in seeking divine intervention that will sooth the whole process of electing leaders of this nation,” he said.

The festival, which promises to bring together a variety of Blantyre based churches and others from outside the city, will centre on promoting spiritual growth and civic responsibility.
