Organisers of Lake of Stars (LOS) music festival have announced a partnership with the British High Commission to Malawi.

The festival which is set for Friday and Sunday this week in Nkhotakota district, will feature artists from Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Britain and Finland.

According to the LOS head of communication Zilanie Gondwe, the Commission will sponsor some British artists as well as the Day of Ideas which is an interactive session with secondary school students who will be drawn from surrounding schools in the district.

Gondwe has since applauded the partnership saying: “The coming in of the British High Commission is a very big plus for the festival which continues to attract both patrons and artists from Malawi and beyond.”

In her remarks, British High Commissioner Fiona Ritchie has called on people from all walks of life to patronise the three day event which she believes the festival is one of the catalysts for promoting peace and unity.

“This is a great opportunity for all people both in Malawi and beyond to come together and experience the warmth of this country along the Lake while embracing peace,” said Ritchie.

The festival which is celebrating 20 years of existence is expected to among others feature artists from Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa as well as Britain and Finland

It is also expected that the festival will have about 80 percent of up and coming artists while 20 percent will account for well-established ones with a well gender balanced line up.
