Benefitted from the Maranatha Academy scholarship

Malawian born Chinese Language and Literature teacher, Biggers Sauli, has called on secondary schools owners in Malawi to offer scholarships to deserving students if the country is to develop.

Sauli, a young man who was awarded a secondary school scholarship by Maranatha Boys Academy in Blantyre between 2014 and 2016, is currently in his first year pursuing Masters Degree in Chinese Language and Literature in China having completed his first degree at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST).

Sauli’s journey began when he was awarded the scholarship to attend Maranatha Academy for his secondary education for form 3 and form 4 where he excelled in his studies and went on to pursue a degree at MUST.

“Secondary education is crucial in shaping one’s future. It is the stepping stone to higher education and eventually a successful career. I’m living proof of that.

“Owners of secondary schools in Malawi should offer free scholarships to underprivileged students. Many abandon education because their guardians cannot afford to pay for their school fees and give them academic necessities. Let us all develop Malawi,” said Sauli.

When asked about Sauli’s success, Maranatha Academy managing director Ernest Kaonga has appreciated the story behind the successful young Malawian scholar.

“As an institution that is dedicated to promoting excellence and quality education, it gives us a great sense of pride when we look back at the impact we have created in our society. We love to hear Sauli’s story and we are very proud of him and all the others that came before and after him because of Maranatha.
