Malawi set to face Ghana in ICC Women’s U19 T20 WCQ
The Malawi cricket team will open their ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup Sub Regional Qualifiers campaign against Ghana tomorrow in Kigali-Rwanda.
Team Malawi who are seeded in Group B together with Eswatini, Ghana and Sierra Leone, have left for Kigali today.
The teams will battle for the top two position which will guarantee progress into the semi-finals of the competition.
The two finalists and the winner of the 3rd place playoff will progress to the next stage of the qualifiers.
Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) spokesperson Edgar Ntulumbwa said: “The team will be captained by Ketrina Chingaipe. This is a strategic move in which the Malawi looking at her experience with the senior team.”
In Group A, a highly competitive field featuring Botswana, Mozambique, Kenya, and Lesotho will clash in a battle for supremacy, with each team vying for a coveted spot in the next round.
With powerhouses present in both groups, the stage is set for an intense competition that promises to be a thrilling ride, as each side strives to etch its name in cricketing history.
