Mutharika challenges incoming DPP leaders

All eyes are at Comesa Hall in Blantyre where the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has voted for new office bearers in the National Executive Committee.
The Malawi Electoral Commission is currently tallying the votes cast by the 2,491 delegates, who participated in the electoral process from 5:30 pm yesterday to 3 am today.

As the party awaits the outcome, DPP leader Peter Mutharika has urged the newly elected office bearers to work diligently to ensure the party’s victory in next year’s general elections.
“I hope among the leaders to be elected, we will have somebody to succeed me. I do not want people who take positions only for decorations. Every position is functional and you must work hard,” said Mutharika.
