Lilongwe comes alive at the 7th Mafunyeta Memorial show

On Sunday, hundreds of young Malawians, artists and music enthusiasts gathered at the National War Memorial Tower Road in Lilongwe for the seventh edition of the Mafunyeta Memorial show.

The event celebrated the life and legacy of Patrick Magalasi, popularly known as Mafunyeta, a reggae dancehall icon who passed away on August 11, 2013.

Mafunyeta was renowned for his unique rhyming lyrics which endeared him to the youth in Malawi.

This year’s show, themed “Let’s Talk About it,” aimed to raise awareness about mental and reproductive health among young people in the digital age.

The event featured electrifying performances by top artists, including Malinga Mafia, Blaze, Provoice, Toriah, Ace Jizzy and Gibo Lantos among others.
