JTI investigating fire incident

JTI Leaf Malawi officials are investigating the cause of a fire incident which has swept through their building in Lilongwe’s Kanengo area.

The company’s corporate affairs and communications director Limbani Kakhome confirmed the fire incident and announced that a thorough investigation will be conducted in collaboration with fire safety authorities and the property owners to determine the cause of the fire.

Kakhome said the blaze resulted in the complete destruction of stock and inputs stored at the facility but no injuries or loss of human life were reported.

Kakhome has since reassured stakeholders that business operations will continue uninterrupted, as the affected warehouse is separate from the main factory.
