Mibawa TV clocks 10

Mibawa Television celebrated a decade of operation in the media industry over the weekend, marking a significant milestone for the company.
The event brought together key stakeholders, including the director general of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), Dausi Suleman.
During the celebration, employees were recognized and awarded for their contributions to the growth of the television channel.
Managing director John Nthakomwa reflected on the challenges faced over the past 10 years, mentioning the tough nature of sustaining a free-to-air model in Malawi.
Nthakomwa acknowledged the struggles encountered but remained optimistic about the future, stating: “The journey has been tough, but we have persevered with the hope of monetizing our operations and starting to recover our losses.”
Addressing the audience, MACRA director general Dausi Suleman pledged to ‘collaborate with stakeholders in the media industry’ so as find sustainable solutions.
Mibawa Entertainment Limited, the parent company of Mibawa Television, is recognized as one of the leading media platforms in Malawi, known for its diverse approach to entertainment, education, and information dissemination.
The company owns Mibawa Studios and Band, in addition to the television channel, utilizing various mediums to reach audiences both domestically and internationally.
