Data centre construction to complete in August
The construction of the National Data Center in Lilongwe is currently at 60 percent completion, with authorities aiming to finish the project by August this year.
The center will serve as a crucial facility for storing and safeguarding data for various government ministries, departments, and agencies.
During a recent familiarization tour of the Ministry of Information and Digitalisation’s Department of E-Government in Lilongwe, Praveen Sridharla, the Team Leader for the Data Centre Project, provided an update on the progress.
He said: “If all goes according to plan, the project will be completed by the 20th August this year.”
Baldwin Chiyamwaka, the Secretary for Information and Digitalisation, emphasized the significance of the National Data Center in Malawi’s digital transformation journey.
“The Data Centre has been designed to have sustainable power with fuel tanks, generators and solar panels for additional power,” said Chiyamwaka.
