Mzuzu E-Hub to launch youth leadership programme
Mzuzu Entrepreneur Hub (Mzuzu E-Hub) in collaboration with Digital Opportunity Trust and Mastercard Foundation, is set to launch Youth Leadership Programme.
The Programme which will run for eight-months and targets youths from Lilongwe City and Mzuzu City, Rumphi and Nkhata Bay districts is expected to commence in July 2024.
In an interview on Tuesday in Mzuzu, Mzuzu E-Hub Technology Integration Coordinator, Twambilile Mwalwanda said the programme aims at offering comprehensive training and mentorship opportunities to the participants.
“The programme will empower youths to be independent as they will be equipped with leadership and digital skills
Mzuzu E-Hub is committed to serving youths in the country through the provision of various skills to improve their livelihoods and this project is just one of the interventions which we apply to achieve our goal,” she said.
According to Mwalwanda, 20 candidates will be selected to undergo training for Peer to Peer Education, sign a contract with the organization and receive benefits in the form of laptops and monthly stipends.
District Youth Officer for Mzimba North who is also responsible for Mzuzu City, Misheck Msokwa hailed Mzuzu E-Hub for the programme, saying it would complement efforts by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in empowering young people with necessary skills for them to realize their full potential.
“We had Youth Leadership and Participation Programme in our previous National Youth Policy which at aimed empowering the youth for them to assume decision making positions at all levels,” he said.
Msokwa expressed optimism that after undergoing the programme, youths would have hands-on experience in leadership and digital skills, which they could use in uplifting their fellow youths.
