UTM to hold an emergency meeting

Reports are rife that the UTM party will today hold an emergency meeting in Lilongwe.
The meeting comes barely hours after President Lazarus Chakwera officially declared his interest to contest as president for the Malawi Congress party if elected during a convention.
There has been widespread belief that Saulos Chilima who is UTM president would represent the alliance as president in next year’s elections.
Following the declaration by Chakwera, critics are demanding the alliance partners to come out clearly on the future of the Tonse Alliance.
There was no immediate comment from UTM on the matter.
