The Malawi Network of Older Persons Organization-MANEPO is hopeful that the recently passed older person’s bill will provide social protection to the elderly.
One of the clauses in the bill states that a grant should be given to older persons in order to sustain their livelihoods.
Many older persons are tasked with the responsibility of looking after orphaned children without adequate resources.
Speaking in Capital FM’s Living in Gehenna documentary series MANEPO Executive Director Andrew Kavala believes the bill will bail out older persons.
Kavala urges the society at large to collaborate in supporting the elderly.
