The media watchdog MISA Malawi is advising journalists to exercise caution in their reporting of sensitive topics.
This follows fake news that went viral on social media since yesterday after it was reported that the plane carrying the Vice President was missing.
The development posed a challenge on established media houses to provide credible, verified and accurate news to deal with misinformation.
According to MISA Malawi chairperson Golden Matonga, journalists should therefore strive to be factual and accurate.
