Public health approach crucial in addressing LGBTQI issues -Expert
A concerned stakeholder is stressing the need for a public health perspective to addressing LGBTQI issues noting that ignoring this could ruin efforts to end HIV as a public health concern by 2030.
The call by interest group, Diversity Forum, came during a session to inspire the media to ensure that their reportage on the LGBTQI community goes beyond human rights to include public health viewpoints.
The grouping’s national coordinator, Dunker Kamba, notes that contrary to the National HIV Strategic Plan, LGBTQI persons continue to face societal acceptance challenges thus hindering their access to public health services.
