Normal operations have resumed at the immigration offices in Blantyre where disgruntled officers had earlier staged a go-slow with regard to a planned strike.

Immigration officers across the country were this morning set to down tools at all formations, including at the borders and airports, to force the resignation or sacking of their boss, Charles Kalumo, over his alleged poor leadership style.

Capital FM understands that flight operations are proceeding as normal at the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe as intimidated officers reluctantly perform their duties.

This morning’s developments follow a stern warning by Homeland Security authorities who described the planned strike as illegal and threatened to arrest and charge the strikers with mutiny, criminal trespass and felony.
