The police in Rumphi are keeping in custody a 46-year-old man suspected of defiling a 10-year-old girl child.
The suspect, Newton Jere committed the offence on Monday but was apprehended on Wednesday after the mother reported the matter to police.
According to Rumphi Police Station Publicist Noel Kamchenga, Jere defiled the girl as she was on her way home from playing with her friends.
