Around 26,860 dogs have been vaccinated against rabies in the city of Blantyre over the past five weekends between 4 May and 2 June.
This is according to Mission Rabies Malawi’s country director Inga McDermott.
Conducted by Mission Rabies Malawi, the vaccination exercise covered various locations across the city in a bid to protect residents and their pets from the deadly viral disease.
Several other dogs were also successfully sterilised during the vaccination campaign whose initial target was 25,000 dogs.
