Ntchisi man in cooler for assaulting modesty of a woman

Police in Ntchisi are keeping in custody Manda Julius, 30, for allegedly insulting modesty of a woman, Jenifer Robert, an incident which is said to have taken place on Monday last week in the district.
Ntchisi Police spokesperson Salome Zgambo said; “On the particular date at around 15:00 hours, the lady went to the nearby trading center to buy relish, upon arrival she met the suspect who seemed drunk and proposed to the victim but she refused.
“This did not go well with the suspect who started beating her and went ahead to tore her clothes leaving her naked,” narrated Zgambo.
She further said well-wishers came to her rescue and the suspect fled from the crime scene but the law enforcers managed to arrest the suspect who upon being interviewed, accepted the charge leveled against him.
According to Zgambo, this is the first case they have recorded in over a year as in 2023 they never recorded such a case and is the first one this year.
Manda Julius who hails from Mchetechete village Traditional Authority Kalumo in the district, is expected to appear before court soon.
