Blantyre derby grosses K80.4m
The Blantyre derby match between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers grossed a record K80,496,000 in gate revenue at Kamuzu stadium, yesterday.
This is a significant jump from last season’s K67.5 million which was collected in a similar fixture at the same venue.
The latest collection means each team has pocketed K16.7 million with a similar amount being paid as a ground levy.
The other money has been channelled towards other stakeholders including Football Association of Malawi, Super League of Malawi and the government through the Malawi National Council of Sports.
Yesterday’s match ended in a one all draw with goals coming from Isaac Kaliati at 20 minutes for the visitors and the hosts equaliser through Patrick Mwaungulu at 48 minutes.
Wanderers are currently on 3rd position and Bullets on 4th position but all tied at 9 points from 5 outings.
