Malawi U20 are Four Nations Tourney champions
Malawi Under 20 National Football Team have claimed the Four Nations Tournament after beating Kenya 3-1 at Lilongwe’s Silver Stadium today.
The junior Flames scored through Emmanuel Saviel at 36 minutes, Chifuniro Kamenya during the added time in the first half before Madalitso Safuli in added on time in the second half.
On the other hand, the Stars juniors scored their consolation through Dalphane Ezekiah at 36th minute.
“It was a very good game, thanks to my players for their total dedication and fighting spirit. We were playing a team that it more experienced than us but we fought and won not only the game, but the tournament,” Malawi Under-20 National Team coach Bob Mpinganjira praised his charges.
Mpinganjira thanked the Football Association of Malawi for the competition arguing it has helped in the development of the squad.
He said: “This is a very good development because we mostly rely on Cosafa to be active but this tournament has changed the narrative. This is a very good exposure for the boys and it will help a lot going forward.”
At the tournament, the junior Flames have managed to win all the matches having also claimed a 3-2 victory against Zimbabwe in their opener.
