The Malawi National Football Team suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Kenya in a Four Nations Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Bingu National Stadium.

Coach Patrick Mabedi started Brighton Munthali between the sticks with other players like Stanley Sanudi, Denis Chembezi, Joseph Balakasi, Jubril Okedina, Lloyd Aaron, Chimwemwe Idana, Wisdom Mpinganjira, Robert Saizi, Chawanangwa Kaonga and Gabadihno Mhango completing the starting eleven.

Micheal Olunga netted twice in the opening minutes of the match and those goals were enough for the first half.

In the second half, the Harambe Stars scored the third one at 83 minutes through Ayub Masika before John Avire sealed the victory in the added minutes.

The hosts could have gotten a consolation goal but Aaron’s penalty at 68 minutes was saved by goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.

Malawi will on Tuesday fight for a third place against Zambia as Kenya play Zimbabwe in the final.
