Mwanza boarder post at an advanced stage
The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) says processes are at an advanced stage towards establishment of Mwanza one-border post.
Speaking during a media tour which the authority organised, MRA corporate affairs manager Wilma Chalulu says once operational, the one-stop border centre will enhance trade facilitation between Mozambique and Malawi as already registered in Mchinji one-stop border post.
She said; “We decided to have this media tour so that members of the press can appreciate the processes being undertaken at our number one border in terms of value and volume. We believe that you (media) will help us to clear myths hovering on some crucial processes to do with the project.”
Chalulu added that; “This will enhance trade facilitation between Mozambique and Malawi. We have one stop border post which is currently operational in Mchinji and has proved to be helpful.”
MRA records show that Mwanza border is a significant revenue collector, raking in approximately K18 billion on monthly basis, cementing its status as the highest grossing border.
