FAM for formalization of leagues

Haiya: As of now, we haven't received any directive. It would be surprising if such directives were issued because the government had already transferred those rights to FAM
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is instituting a committee to help in the formalisation of leagues at all levels.
The development comes amid growing disparities in competitions in terms of sponsorship packages and calendar schedules.
“We are constituting an adhoc committee which is going to come up with a proper format for our leagues, especially regional leagues to make sure that we are consistent in terms of format.
“We do not want to see one region having number of teams, different from another region, and yet they are playing in a competition of the same level. We also want to have one football calendar, format and a number of teams,” FAM president Fleetwood Haiya emphasized.
The FA boss is hopeful that the initiative will help to attract more support from the corporate world.
“I can assure you that it will be a very competitive and it is also going to give value to our sponsors,” Haiya said.
