NAP demands positive reaction to pastoral letter

Facing criticism for maladministration -Chakwera

A civil society grouping called National Advocacy Platform (NAP) is demanding swift action in addressing the pastoral letter concerns.

The Catholic Bishops under the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) released the letter on Sunday titled the ‘Sad Story for Malawi’.

The letter criticized President Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership, describing it as greedy and lacking seriousness in tackling corruption.

The bishop’s fear that serious socioeconomic challenges will persists, saying the Chakwera leadership disregards advice from the clergy.

NAP chairperson Benedicto Kondowe said: “The government should consciously reflect on issues which various stakeholders have raised, one of them being the Catholic Bishops through the pastoral letter.”

He further urged the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) led administration to fulfil their promise of being a servant government.

In a recent interview with www.capitalradiomalawi.com, government responded to the pastoral letter through their spokesperson Moses Kunkuyu saying they acknowledged issues raised in the pastoral letter.
