Police recover stolen bags of maize

One ADMARC employee and two others are in police custody on allegations of diverting and stealing 300 bags of maize.
They are Malani Kaira an ADMARC employee, Isaac Bisayi and Imran Mtonda.
According to eastern region police spokesperson Patrick Mussa, Bisayi a driver loaded his truck and trailer with 600 bags of maize each weighing 50 kilograms at Dowa ADMARC.
“The maize was meant to be delivered at Mkwepele ADMARC but he diverted it and offloaded 300 bags at the house of Mtonda at Mtaja Trading Centre in Machinga’’.
The police, after being tipped, arrested the three suspects and recovered all the three hundred bags of maize.
“We commend the public for working hand in hand with us to recover the maize. We have so far charged the suspects with conspiracy to commit a felony, theft and theft by servant,” said Mussa.
