FAM hold refresher coaching coarse ahead of new season
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is conducting a two-day refresher coaching course for Super League coaches from today until tomorrow in Blantyre in readiness for the 2024 season.
A communique from the association indicates that the course is being facilitated by the current performance analyst for South Africa National football team, Sinesipho Mali.
FAM technical director Benjamin Kumwenda said the course is very helpful in the professionalisation of the game.
“The modern game would like to see coaches with capacities on how to observe the opponent’s strength and weakness. This improves teams’ performances elsewhere.
“Our coaches should have knowledge on how to analyse games since most of our matches are now beamed on TVs and some even have videographers in their teams that take footage during training sessions for coaches to properly asses and observe the players when at home,” said Kumwenda.
The technical director added that: “We want to also teach them how to cut videos of player performances or those of the opponents for them to easily do their analysis. Video analysis is one of the key elements which modern football demands for improved performances.”
Kumwenda also added that the FA is expecting every coach to have computer knowledge if they are to grow professionally.
The top flight league coaches are at the refresher course along with senior women’s and men’s national team head coaches and some selected former Flames players.
