Baby J preaches consistency in his song
Up and coming Afro-pop artists, Baby J Malawi has hinted ‘consistency’ as key to a successful music career.
Baby J Malawi whose real name is Joshua Jonathan Phoya relays the message is his new song titled Kamodzi from his album titled 2024 which will be out this August.
His statement comes at a time when budding artists are struggling to attract a long-lasting fan base in the music circles due to inconsistency.
Laying on a melodious bed for an instrumental, Baby J portrays the dreamy life of the protagonist in the song as an iconic figure who inspires young folks to work hard in life as an avenue to achieve their goals in life.
The artist introduces the bridge of the song leading up to the chorus with a line that says life changes only when one is courageous enough: ‘Zinthu zina zimasintha pokhapokha ukasankha kulimba mtima/Ndidzaphula tsiku lina mafana akundiona ndikutsika B-Ma!’
In the next line he says ‘life is a onetime offer therefore he will make sure not to miss an opportunity as it comes’ in the chorus: ‘Moyo ndikamodzi ndimadziwa kuti moyo ndikamodzi/ tsiku ndilimodzi, ndimadziwa kuti tsiku ndi limodzi… sinditopa-topa, ndipo sindifooka-fooka/ tsiku ndi limodzi…’
In an interview with capitalradiomalawi.com, Phoya reiterated a gentle reminder to his peers to remain consistent citing other major artists the likes of Kell Kay and Driemo who are currently making headway through their music.
“I believe that the struggle is real when it comes to establishing a long-lasting fan base in the music industry. However, some of the best artists today have made it in their careers mainly because they have never given up even when it looked like nothing was working,” Baby J Malawi narrated.
Meanwhile Joshua ‘Baby J Malawi’ Phoya who apart from music is also a business man and IT specialist, goes on to advise his peers to diversify career choices aside from music.
