FAM to host sponsors’ gala

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) officials are hoping that next month’s sponsorship gala will attract more partners to develop the game.

The FA is on March 15 set to host a sponsors and prospective sponsors’ engagement expo at a venue yet to be announced.

The association’s chairperson of the Competitions and Marketing Committee Felister Dossi highlights that the forthcoming indaba promises to be a game changer.

“We want to reach out to all the leagues so that we should be able to get at least some hefty sponsorship for the competitions.

“We recognise the fact that there are partners out there who may not be aware of which areas they may come in. So, we want every sponsor to come so that we can highlight the gaps that we have as well as the amounts that we are looking for as FAM so as to have well sponsored leagues,” stressed Dossi.

During last season’s TNM Super League awards gala in Blantyre last month, FAM president Fleetwood Haiya revealed that the FA has set the top-flight league sponsorship at a minimum of K500 million per season from the current K150 million.

TNM chief executive officer Michel Herbert also announced that the sponsorship package will be reviewed upwards by at least times three.
