Celebrating victory -Haiya

Fleetwood Haiya is the new Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president after defeating longest serving president Walter Nyamilandu during elections that too place in Mzuzu on Saturday.

Out of the 36 votes, Haiya, who is the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) president got 23 while Nyamilandu got 13.

On the other hand, Haiya will have Madalitso Kuyera as his first vice president following a 19-17 triumph over James Mwenda.

Northern Region Football Association chairperson Lameck Khonje’s 21 votes were enough to make him a winner on the post of second vice president after his contender Othaniel Hara got 15.

On the executive members, Daud Ntanthiko, Patrick Kapanga, Chimango Munthali and Bernard Chiwiriwri Harawa were emerged victorious in the eight-member race.

Fellistas Dossi’s 21 votes made her return the position of women’s representative in the FA executive committee after outshining Mervis Mangulenje who got 15 votes.

Meanwhile, Haiya has announced the stepping down as the SULOM boss and his predecessor at FAM, Nyamilandu, has congratulated him.
