Malawi’s Lily Banda makes US television debut
Malawian actress Lily Banda has made her US debut in the television series “The Wheel of Time.”
In two episodes, Banda takes on the character Mulaen, showcasing her talent to a broader international audience.
Well known for her role in the film adaptation of William Kamkwamba’s book, “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind”, Banda gained international recognition in 2019 for her role in the series “Deep State” as Aicha Konate.
Recently, she lent her voice to Towela in Netflix’s hit animated series “Supa Team 4.”
In her latest project, “Wheel of Time,” Banda shares the screen with Academy-nominated British actress Rosamund Pike.
Produced by Amazon Prime and Sony, “The Wheel of Time” follows the story of Pike’s character leading five young people on a journey, believing that one of them might be a reincarnation of a powerful individual prophesied to either save or destroy the world.
The series, now in its second season, is based on the popular book series by Robert Jordan.
