National Bank of Malawi-NBM plc has donated K5 million towards the renovation of a hall at the Blantyre Sports Club.

The sports facility has been in existence since 1890s and the management plans to do some maintenance works.

Speaking after making the donation at the bank’s head office in Blantyre on Wednesday, NBM marketing and corporate affairs manager Akossa Hiwa said the bank believe in the power of collaboration.

“This financial support is an investment in the well-being of our community, the development of local talents, and the enhancement of our sporting infrastructure. We believe that through this project, we are not only improving the physical space but also nurturing the dreams and aspirations of countless athletes who call this club their home,” stressed Hiwa.

On his part, director of business and strategy for Blantyre Sports Club Gift Chidya Gondwe said; “we are very delighted to receive this kind of support from National Bank. The club receives a lot of patronage and most of the infrastructure is in dilapidated state. So, it is a call for us to have good and informed structures.”

The cost of renovating the hall at Blantyre Sports Club is estimated at K30 million.
