Court orders Wanderers to pay former player

Can afford a smile - Munthali

The Industrial Relations Court in Blantyre has ordered Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC to pay K2.6 million to its former goalkeeper Peter Munthali for failing to meet contractual agreements.

The shot-stopper who played for the Nomads between 2015 and 2017 sued the club for failing to pay him signing-on fees, game bonuses and medical schemes totaling over K2 million.

The court has found Wanderers guilty of all counts but has added 25 percent to the amount due to the devaluation of the Kwacha.

Reacting to the ruling, Munthali said; “I am happy with the judgement. I was expecting the court to agree with the prayer that I made before it.”

Officials from the Lali Lubani are yet to comment on the development.
