Kunkuyu: We cannot stop demonstrations

Capital Hill is describing the church as a very important player in the socio-economic development of the country.

The remarks follow the CCAP Blantyre Synod’s 34th Biennial Assembly where the church elected new office bearers on Monday.

Information Minister Moses Kunkuyu is the government’s chief spokesperson said; “we work together in areas of education health and many other areas. The agenda that President Chakwera has in driving this country forward in ensuring that we recover economically as well as being a middle income and self-reliant nation, that can only be realized if we work hand in hand with the church.” Stressed the minister.

During the assembly, delegates elected Humphrey Zgambo and Annie Kapinda as Synod Moderator and Vice Moderator, replacing Edna Navaya and Ernest Mpate respectively.

New General Secretary, Anderson Juma, who defeated his one-term rival, Billy Gama, and other contestants; discloses that his main focus will be to uplift the spiritual welfare of the Synod’s congregants.

“We want to see the church moving into a direction where Christians should feel satisfied for meeting their needs whenever they go to worship at their churches.” Said the new General Secretary.
