Entertainers Of The Year back in December

Entertainers Of The Year is set to return on December 15 this year, 18 years after being halted.

This was revealed at a media briefing in Blantyre on Monday by officials of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation – MBC.

The awards which were first introduced in 1970 and were halted in 2005, have been re-introduced in a quest to recognize and award talent in broadcasting, music, drama, film, stage theater and sports.

MBC director general George Kasakula has made an assurance that the Awards will be credible and transparent disclosing that the State controlled broadcaster is engaging an independent auditing film to manage some crucial processes.

“The biggest thing that we have done is to recognise that in terms of choosing, it shouldn’t be MBC. So, we have hired an independent auditing film, Graham Carr to run everything in terms of the voting itself.’ Kasakula clarified.

Kasakula has since called on the corporate world and well-wishers to support the cause.

“Our budget is currently around K78 but MBC does not have this money that is why we are appealing for the private sector to come and partner with us,” said Kasakula.

Nomination of candidates will run from November 9 to December 9.
