Nankhumwa snubs disciplinary hearing
Democratic Progressive Party – DPP vice president for the southern region Kondwani Nankhumwa has snubbed the party’s disciplinary committee which summoned him to a hearing today.
Nankhumwa was scheduled to appear before the committee today following the whistle-stop tour he conducted in Blantyre a week ago.
In a later signed by the secretary to the committee Jean Mathanga, the committee summoned Nankhumwa following a complaint from the party’s deputy secretary general Aaron Sangala.
He is faulting Nankhumwa for holding the rallies without seeking permission from party president Peter Mutharika.
But Nankhumwa through his lawyers has informed the committee that he is unable to honour the invitation as he is pre-occupied with parliamentary activities.
In his letter to the committee, Nankhumwa has asked the committee to reschedule the hearing to a later date.
Meanwhile, political commentator Sherrif Kaisi has warned that; “the continued squabbles in DPP are slowly reducing the party’s chances of bouncing back to power in 2025.”
