Nyamilandu elected CAF executive member
Football Association of Malawi president Walter Nyamilandu has been elected as an executive member of the Confederation of African Football – CAF at the elections held on the side-lines of the continental soccer governing body’s AGM in Benin on Thursday.
Out of 54 votes, Nyamilandu got 35 defeating Mohamed Ally Samir Sobha from Mauritius and Mokhosi Mohapi of Lesotho got 15 and 3 votes respectively with the other vote being declared null and void.
Various stakeholders who include the Malawi National Council of Sports and Super League of Malawi among others have so far extended their congratulatory messages to the local FA leader on his latest achievement.
Nyamilandu who is also an executive member of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations – COSAFA has also saved on a FIFA Council seat from 2018 before he lost it to Amaju Pinnick of Nigeria in 2021.
