NRWB temporality suspends CEO vetting meeting

A board meeting for the shortlisting of the Northern Region Water Board-NRWB Chief Executive Officer scheduled for tomorrow in Nkhatabay is temporarily suspended.
Yesterday, social media was awash with a leaked budget document detailing the amounts of money to be spent during the said meeting.
The issue attracted public criticism after it was revealed that the board intended to spend about 13 million kwacha for a two-day meeting aimed at shortlisting candidates for the position of a CEO.
Critics wonder why the shortlisting exercise could not be done online in order to cut costs.
This is also happening at a time such institutions are continuously making losses and are providing poor services to Malawians.
NRWB spokesperson Edward Nyirenda who could not give reasons for the suspension of the meeting, justified that the money had to be spent since most board members reside in other districts.
Meanwhile, Comptroller of Statutory Corporations Peter Simbani has also confirmed the postponement of the interviews adding that new dates will be agreed upon.
