Kell Kay’s “Loss” takes Malawi music scene by storm
Kell Kay is a name that has become synonymous with great music in recent years. With a string of hits to his name, the singer is known for his smooth R&B vocals, infectious tunes, and memorable lyrics.
His latest release, “Loss,” featuring Hyphen and Eli Njuchi, has cemented his spot as one of Malawi’s most loved musicians of the decade.
Since its release, “Loss” has taken the music scene by storm breaking local records by garnering over a million views on YouTube in just one month.
“I honestly did not expect this kind of feedback from my fans and was surprised after the song was released,” the artist said in an interview.
“I believe that the reception was this way because of the message in the song, it is a message many people are able to relate to,” he added.
In the heartbreak anthem, Kell Kay, Eli Njuchi, and Hyphen talk of how they built a life with a lover that they are no longer with. They go on to remind the former flame of what they have lost.
Despite coming from different musical backgrounds the trio find common ground and create a song that allows each artist to bring their unique style and flavour.
When asked what next he has planned for his loyal fans, the artist indicated that he is working on a song that is expected to be released in July.
“My plans are to release three songs this year and if all goes well one might be a collaboration with an international artist,” the artist announced.
Since its release in March this year, Loss is still enjoying airplay on local radio and television stations.
