NBM supports EGENCO with K5m donation for APUA AGM

National Bank of Malawi Plc has made a significant donation of K5 million towards the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA) annual general meeting, which is set to take place in Lilongwe from 3 to 9 June this year.

The 57th edition of the meeting, hosted by the Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO), will bring together CEOs and technocrats from across Africa to discuss matters affecting the energy sector.

Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony in Blantyre EGENCO CEO William Liabunya expressed the importance of the meeting for Malawi, highlighting the benefits that could come from the gathering. He emphasized that the meeting was fundamental in the development of the country and the energy sector.

In his speech, National Bank CEO Mcfussy Kawawa described the bank’s donation as a way to strengthen the relationship between the two companies. He further stated that the contribution was a demonstration of the bank’s commitment to the social and economic development of Malawi.

The Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA) aims to promote the development and integration of the African electricity sector through active cooperation among its members and with all stakeholders in the international electricity sector and donors.
