Malawi joins Transform Africa Summit to boost digitalisation goals
Malawi’s participation at the Transform Africa Summit in Zimbabwe has been hailed as a major milestone towards achieving the country’s digitalization goals.
Under the theme: “Connecting Africa’s Digital Economy,” the event will explore how African countries can leverage technology to drive economic growth and development.
Commencing on Wednesday, the two-day summit will bring together leaders from government, business, and international organizations to collaborate on new ways of shaping, accelerating, and sustaining Africa’s ongoing digital revolution.
In an interview with Capital FM, Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu notes that as one of the newest members of the Smart Africa Partnership the government has placed digitalization as one of its top priorities. While confirming President Lazarus Chakwera’s attendance, Kunkuyu added that attending the summit is critical for the country, as it cannot afford to be left behind in the ongoing digital revolution.
Other heads of state attending the summit, include Zimbabwe’s President Emerson Mnangagwa, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, His Majesty King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Eswatini, and President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia
It is anticipated that the event will feature interactive sessions and discussions, providing a platform for stakeholders to share best practices, showcase new technologies, and forge partnerships to drive Africa’s digital transformation.
