Health authorities to launch vaccination campaign for Typhoid, Measles, Polio

The Ministry of Health is set to embark on an integrated vaccination campaign for Typhoid conjugate vaccine-TCV, Measles Rubella and Polio supplementary next month.
Secretary for Health, Samson Mndolo has revealed the development in a statement, indicating that the administration of the vaccines is set to run from 15-21 May.
The vaccination will go along with vitamin A supplementation for under 5 children.
The supplementary immunization is conducted every 3 years, in order to reach all children in the country.
The exercise follows an increase in typhoid fever cases being registered in the country.
According to Mndolo, these interventions minimize the risk of measles outbreaks.
Currently, some neighboring countries have recorded measles cases, a development that puts Malawi at risk.
Mndolo has since appealed to parents and guardians to ensure that their children continue taking other routine vaccines regardless of the exercise.
Meanwhile, the ministry has already started conducting preparatory trainings with key partners in the campaign such as Malawi Red Cross Society.
