Fundraising matches flop due to bad weather
Local football coaches are hinting on organising a fresh fundraising activity to support their Cyclone Freddy affected colleagues.
It follows the disruption by bad weather of National Football Coaches Association of Malawi-organised fundraising matches for Super League teams in Dowa and Lilongwe at the weekend.
The beneficiaries include Chitipa United’s MacDonald Mtetemera whose house in Chimwankhunda, Blantyre was swept by floods, and Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves’ Enos Chatama who suffered a similar fate in Bangwe.
Chairperson for the coaches’ body, Aubrey Nankhuni, insists their door is always open for people to support the cause.
“May be we will arrange another friendly game somewhere else for us to raise funds for our colleagues. We hope we are moving forward because we are still receiving donations from well-wishers.” Nankhuni said.
In the flopped matches, Blue Eagles played a one all draw to Kamuzu Barracks at Champion stadium in Mponela – Dowa on Saturday and on Sunday Kamuzu Barracks were 1 nil winners over Civil Service United at Aubrey Dimba ground in Kapiri, Mchinji.
Nankhuni has however not revealed as to how much the two games grossed.
