Tadikira granted bail

The High Court in Mzuzu has granted bail to the step son to the country’s former President Peter Mutharika, Tadikira Mafubza who is answering murder and human trafficking charges.

Justice Gladys Gondwe delivered the ruling this afternoon.

Mafubza was arrested last year in connection with the mass grave of 30 suspected illegal immigrants discovered at Mtangatanga forest reserve in Mzimba District.

He has been on remand at Maula Prison in Lilongwe since his arrest on 23 November 2022.

Among the bail conditions include a cash bond of K2 million, two sureties bonded at K5 million non-cash who are his blood relatives, surrendering travel documents, reporting to the police headquarters once in a fortnight and not to interfere with the investigation or get into contact with state witnesses.
