Council of Sports set to improve Malawi’s performance in international games
Malawi National Council of Sports – MNCS is of the view that Malawi’s sports industry can achieve better performances and results in the New Year, if all stakeholders reflect on the missed opportunities in 2022.
For several years, local administrators across all sports disciplines have been accused of poor preparations that have always resulted in below par performance in international competitions.
A recent case in point is the embarrassing performance of young Malawian athletes at the AU Region 5 Games which the country hosted in Lilongwe earlier this month.
MNCS Chairperson Sunduzwayo Madise has stressed on the importance of proper and timely preparations to ensure the country’s success in various international contests starting this New Year.
“We are at the moment focussing on mobilising resources in readiness for the forthcoming AU Region 5 Games Youth Games scheduled for Maputo.” Madise explained.
Other than the region 5 Games, Malawi has of late had poor showcases in international games such as the commonwealth, Olympics as well as other football and netball championships.
