Kansengwa, in need of assistance

Celebrated Photographer- Ras Peter Kansengwa says he is yet to reach the targeted 20 million kwacha for eye medical treatment abroad.

Kansengwa needs eye surgery that demands the said amount, which will cater for his travel costs, hospital bills, food and accommodation that includes one guardian.

In an interview with Capital FM, Kansengwa admits that he is still engaging various quarters that are assisting him collect funds for his trip and expenses during the medical process.

He has however bemoaned the tendency of recognizing achievements of an individual when they die.

Kansengwa argues it is high time Malawians start recognizing artists whilst they are alive.

“I do not have the money to pay for my medical expenses. The message is out there on social media and am just hoping for well- wishers to step in and intervene,” Kansengwa explained.

He also adds: “Show emotional, physical and financial support to people whilst they are alive. In Malawi it’s quite the opposite, the dead get honored more than the living”

Meanwhile, social media has been flooded with pleas from a number of artists who are organising a number of events aimed at  raising  funds for the celebrated photographer.
