Bakili Muluzi tips Tonse administration on corruption fight

Muluzi (L) talking to Chakwera (R)

Former President Bakili Muluzi is echoing calls for the Tonse administration to remain focused on fighting corruption to achieve the MW 2063 agenda.

Muluzi believes the country can save substantial amount of money in the public sector for development programs, if corruption is dealt with.

The former president made the remarks Muluzi when he received a certificate of recognition from the National Planning Commission-NPC.

The recognition is for his contribution towards the social economic and political transformation during his ten-year rule.

He therefore advised governance structures to effectively perform their duties and serve Malawians better, including the Anti-Corruption Bureau-ACB.

Ironically, Muluzi is answering a corruption case for allegedly diverting 1.7 billion kwacha into his personal account during his term of office.

The case has been in the courts for 17 years.
