Governance advocate endorses CSO briefing
.Calls government briefings an act of arrogance
A governance activist is endorsing the press conference organized by the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) aimed at tackling the socio-economic challenges facing the nation.
Scheduled for this afternoon in Lilongwe, it comes as the government has been accused of justifying the current economic mess instead of providing solutions
Currently Malawi is facing a serious fuel crisis that has resulted in motorists spending hours at service stations.
It is not automatic that once one camps at the service station will have their vehicles fuelled, as it sometimes takes days of visiting the service stations before an opportunity to fuel arises.
According to governance advocate, Undule Mwakasungula a press briefings conducted by government officials are increasing the anger in Malawians as they are a display of arrogance.
‘’Malawians expect solutions to the crisis, the fuel crisis has affected various projects including the private sector which is the backbone of the economy and following the development Malawians are affected by increase in prices of essential commodities’’.
He further calls on the President Lazarus Chakwera to walk the talk on reshuffling his cabinet, insisting that he needs the people who can help him take the country out of its challenges.
‘’The current cabinet is full of spectators and tourists who have no spine to help the president get the country out of these challenges, the president must be decisive in making bold decisions. Said Mwakasungula.
He further expresses concern with the looting of public resources a development that has further compounded the current crisis.
