Two nabbed for drug possession
Police in Lilongwe have arrested two women, for possession of dangerous (controlled) drugs suspected to be Ephedrine without a license.
According to Lilongwe police publicist Hastings Chigalu, the two have been identified as 19-year-old Beatrice Kaunda, and Sekai Chiwala, 46.
The suspects had disguised the said drug in a carton as hair mesh destined for the Philippines, through one of the courier service providers in town.
However, the courier service officials were not convinced with the alleged contents of the carton, and demanded physical check.
After opening the parcel, they discovered the dangerous drugs concealed inside the alerted the police who made the arrest.
The suspects told the police that they received the parcel from a certain Nigerian national who is a close neighbor to the first suspect, to send it abroad through that courier company.
The suspects are currently in police custody waiting to appear in court to answer a case of Found In Possession of Dangerous Drugs, contrary to Regulation 4A as Read with Section 19 (1) of Dangerous Drugs Act.
